June 24,
2008. The National Association of Diaconate Directors (NADD) Board of
Directors is pleased to announce two significant events for the organization.
Deacon Thomas R. Dubois has been appointed NADD's new Executive Director
beginning July 1st. His tenure begins on the same day NADD formally relocates
its national office operations to the Pope John Paul II Education Center at the
Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio.
Deacon Dubois earned a Master of Pastoral Studies degree with a focus on
Pastoral Life and Administration from Loyola University of New Orleans and a
bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Ashland University in Ohio. He
has extensive marketing, communications, and business management experience that
includes project direction, budgetary supervision, event and convention
planning, and public relations.
Ordained for the Diocese of Toledo in May of 2000, Deacon Dubois' ministerial
experience includes serving Catholic inmates at Mansfield Correctional Institute
for the past nine years. In his assignment at Resurrection Parish near his home
in Lexington, he is actively involved in RCIA, in forming Extraordinary
Ministers of Holy Communion, and in teaching high school and adult religious
education programs. Active also at the diocesan level, Deacon Dubois has served
on the Deacons' Council and on the Aspirancy Board of the diaconate formation
program. He serves the Toledo diocesan Office of Global Concerns by preaching at
area parishes in solicitation of prayer and financial support for the Society
for the Propagation of the Faith.
Deacon Dubois and Deborah, his wife, have been married for 28 years. Deborah
is the Children's Outreach Librarian with the Mansfield/Richland County Public
Library. She serves in her parish as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy
Communion, lector, and webmaster for the parish's website. Tom and Deborah have
two daughters: Aimee, who works as an industrial designer in Toledo, and Anne,
who attends The Ohio State University in Columbus.
The Pontifical College Josephinum, located in Columbus since 1877, is owned
by and at the service of the Holy See. Archbishop Pietro Sambi, the Apostolic
Nuncio to the United States serves as Chancellor. Monsignor Paul J. Langsfeld is
Rector/President. The Josephinum's programs in the formation of priests follow
norms established by the Code of Canon Law, the Congregation for Catholic
Education, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. In 2007, the
Josephinum's Board of Trustees established an Institute for the Formation and
Ministry of the Permanent Diaconate as a visible commitment supporting the
development of permanent deacons serving throughout the United States. NADD
entered into a collaboration with the Josephinum in 2005 that led to the
successful launch of a New Directors' Institute and the exploration of
additional cooperative endeavors.
The National Association of Diaconate Directors was founded to serve those
priests, deacons, religious and laity who are responsible to their respective
bishops for the formation, ministry, and life of deacons serving the Catholic
Church. The association has an advisory relationship with the Committee for
Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations of the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops. Its current officers are Deacon J. S. Anzalone (Birmingham),
Chairman, Deacon Justin Green (Winona), Vice Chairman, and Deacon Robert McCoy
(Davenport), Secretary/Treasurer. Beginning July 1st, the NADD office can be
reached by dialing 614-985-2276.
