Jubilee of Deacons: May 27-29, 2016 in Rome
- SEE IMPORTANT CHANGE NOTE BELOW REQUIRING DOCUMENTATION
The Vatican continues to receive registrations from deacons and their families from all over the world for the special Jubilee for Deacons in Rome on the weekend of May 27 to 29, 2016! A new information link has been opened that describes the event: http://www.im.va/content/gdm/en/news.html
The Jubilee of Deacons will include conferences on the role of deacons as images of mercy for the new evangelization in their families, parishes, and workplaces. Cardinal Pell (Prefect for the Secretariat for the Economy) and Cardinal Turkson (President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace) have graciously agreed to each present a catechesis to the English speaking participants.
Two related documents pertaining to the Jubilee for Deacons are attached to to bottom of this webpage. For additional informmation, please visit the Vatican website www.im.va . Everyone planning to attend the Jubilee for Deacons must register in advance; registration cutoff is March 31, 2016. Due to the large number of deacons registering, the Vatican is asking for donations of 10 Euro per person to help offset expenses. Please follow this link to register: http://www.im.va/content/gdm/en/partecipa/registrazione.htm
Vesting: Deacons attending the Jubilee Mass with Pope Francis are to vest in an alb and white stole.
NOTE THIS CHANGE: Per an announcement received on May 13, 2016 from the Organizing Secretariat in Rome, each deacon who has registered individually is to present an official document/letter attesting to his diaconal state. For groups, it is enough for the group leader to present his document and, in the case that the group leader is not a deacon, it is sufficient that he/she is present with one of the deacons from the group in possession of a letter of attestation.
