NDI Seminar Features

The National Directory Institute uses "best practices" methodology to demonstrate effective strategies for developing and implementing the Directory. NDI further integrates the four pillars of formational development to assure that the resulting formation programs meet objectives for normative readiness.

Some of the topics addressed by the National Directory Institute include:

Use of evaluation screening tools
Interviews and advisory structures in the selection process
Selecting aspirants and candidates
How to help a man discern his vocation
Normative elements and standards for readiness in all four dimensions
Canonical issues before and after ordination

Every NDI participant will undertake a long-term, Directory-based project that will provide a direct and immediate benefit to the diaconate in the participant's home diocese. NDI provides mentoring and several forms of electronic support to assist participants with their projects.

NDI Class Format

The National Directory Institute follows an adult-learning format that combines expert presentations, panel discussions, and opportunities for interaction with other directors in a spiritually nourishing environment.

NDI is conducted on the historical campus of the Pontifical College Josephinum
Participants enjoy daily Mass and Liturgy of the Hours
Theological presentations build foundations for each stage of formation
Realistic case studies and hands-on practica are used to examine common issues
NDI is comprehensive - participants address the challenges of large and small dioceses in rural and urban settings
Participants review sample applications and letter templates
