The NADD Institutes

The NADD Deacon Institute Series is comprised to two programs: the National Directory Institute (NDI) and the Ministry and Life Institute (MLI). NDI focuses on the formation period of inquiry through ordination while MLI focuses post-ordination formation.
NDI and MLI help diocesan personnel better understand and effectively implement the normative elements of the National Directory while offering assurance to ordinaries that formation, life and ministry of deacons in their dioceses is correct and effective. NDI and MLI are offered in consultation with the USCCB Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations.
NDI participants learn the principles, norms, and implications of identifying and calling aspirants, forming candidates in preparation for Holy Orders. NDI integrates the four pillars of formation development (human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral) to assure that formation programs, including post-ordination formation, excel by meeting objectives for normative readiness. 

MLI provides deacon directors and vicars for deacons with the tools to enhance the life and ministry of deacons in their dioceses. MLI enables customization of ongoing, systematic formation whether human, spiritual, intellectual or pastoral.
NDI and MLI provide participants with the resources to:
